#SELFcare - My YOGA Journey
Its always true you have to start somewhere. Well, I started, then I started again, then I stopped for a long time, then I started Pilates, then I stopped for a very long time... and here I am, I finally feel connected. It finally clicked for me and it feels great.
Part of the start of this journey (now weeks in) relied on a generous gift and research done on part of my Husband looking for a place where I would feel comfortable and could connect with the overall vibe of the studio, along with a gift of a classes package.
After taking a variety of yoga classes over the years, I went into a beginner class as my body had lost any of its flexibility and I had not retained any of my practice. It was a true restart. The class was full yet we found our space in this intimate studio. The part that clicked for me was my first instructor in this studio. She was graceful, not only with her poses, but also with her instruction and her guidance. There was plenty of insight offered to reconnect me to the philosophies of Yoga that I admired and had not maintained.
I tried another class called Gentle yoga, and have found my stride. I have experienced other instructors who are offering more than just a steady diet of yoga; they are also bringing a lot of insight and mindfulness into the room where I have finally found inspiration for continuing to practice. I have had success really feeling the lessons and connecting within. I feel my body finally unwinding and growing while my mind falls in sync. Most importantly I find myself thirsty for studying more and for continuing my practice at home, something I have never experienced before.
I will continue to share my journal of finding my own way in hopes that it will inspire others to try to find a connection to a practice that is so invigorating and yet grounding.
