Paris Street Style – How to Get the Look This Season
In the wake of Paris Fashion Week this month, red and leather everything is everywhere on the streets and boutiques of the City of Lights. From the runway to the rues, relaxed silhouttes are in– from loose-fitting, feminine blouses and boxy jackets to oversized sweaters and midi and calf-length dresses and skirts. And of course, to accessorize in true Parisian style, always top your look off with an extra-long scarf and small, simple crossbody bag.
Get the look that’s hot on the streets of Paris with a few staple pieces to refresh your wardrobe.
When in doubt, remember these three tips for dressing in Parisian style: stick to flats, embrace neutrals, wear pieces that are relaxed (but not baggy) and remember, when it comes to accessorizing, less is more.
Cropped motorcycle jackets look great with jeans for a relaxed look, or paired with pleated midi-length length skirts and semi-long dresses that are in this fall. Hip French brand The Kooples offers this waxed lace-covered version for an added romantic touch to your look.
This pleated semi-long skirt is a wardrobe staple for fall. Try this style in a soft, satiny fabric or leather in neutral navy or black for maximum mix-and-match options in your closet.
This feminine blouse from Topshop features a slit and pretty tie at the back for an unexpected dainty detail under your boyfriend coat or motorcycle jacket.
Layer up with a classic French-style striped sweater (in red, of course!) like this one from Saint James, a French brand based in Normandy that’s been spinning luxury sweater since 1889.
Red leather booties are hot this season in Parisian boutiques and on women’s feet on the streets. Get the look with a pair like this from Spanish brand Miista for a chic finish to your ensemble.
Top off your look with a small crossbody purse, a favorite accessory of Parisian women. Made from luxuriously soft leather, the Parisienne Maxi Crossbody Ipad Case by French designer Félicie Bajard for Manufacture des Rigoles is a perfect little everyday purse that’s big enough to fit your iPad or a book. It’s accented with a perforated Eiffel Tower design so you can always have a piece of Paris at your fingertips.
Wrap up your look with a cozy shawl-turned-scarf in an on-trend tartan plaid print for a relaxed (and warm!) look.
